Canada and Veterbrates

Here are some projects your children have been working on in Science and History. Above you will see different animal pictures. The students were learning the difference between animals with a backbone, and animals without.
Here you see a Canadian flag. We just completed our Canada unit. Ask your kids what that picture is on the flag, they all knew it on the test!

"Don't forget mine!" says M. C. holding up her Skeleton!

Skeletal System and More!!

To the left, you will see, M.E., J.S., F.R., B.T., and E.P. showing off their "Mr. Skeleton". Together we created a skeleton using the 'scientific' bone names!

Mrs. Hart's Class!

Hi Everyone! I hope you are able to find our new Blog!

So far the third graders in my classes have been working hard! We've completed reading many books individually and as a class. The kids especially loved the character "Fudge" in the book Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing.

In Science, we just completed our unit on animal classification. We learned about mammals, amphibians, reptiles, birds, fish, and invertebrates. We are now starting to study the skeletal system. We are learning the scientific names for our bones. Ask your child to locate these bones:

1. Cranium 2. Clavicle 3. Humerus 4. Radius and Ulna 5. Ribs 6. Hips 7. Tibia and Fibula 8. Phalanges 9. Sternum 10. Femur (They should be able to teach you a song called "The Bone Bounce" to help you remember them too!)

In history we completed our first unit on continents. The students enjoyed studying about all the different continents and what they could find there! We are now studying about our neighbor to the north, Canada. On Thursday, the students made an example of a Canadian Flag.

I will continue to update our page with pictures, and important information for our class!
I am excited for students and parents to be able to access our blog from home, or at the library! Please be sure to leave any questions, comments or suggestions!
